Honoring our veterans

Posted on November 9, 2017

Veteran’s Day is a time to remember the sacrifices our military heroes have made for our nation, and to thank them for their courageous service.

Among the events in central Arkansas this weekend is a special day at the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum (AIMM) on the Arkansas River’s north banks. Join our veterans for a special ceremony Saturday, November 11, 11 AM, followed by free lunch and submarine tours.

The AIMM is the United States’ only intercontinental museum to house both bookends of World War II. The USS Hoga tugboat was instrumental in providing much-needed relief to ships hit at Pearl Harbor December 2, 1941. The USS Razorback submarine was present at Tokyo Bay when the Japanese surrendered. The museum commemorates our country’s naval heroes and tells this important chapter in our nation’s history.
