Lettuce Beet Hunger Together

Posted on June 8, 2018

The Little Rock Farmers’ Market (LRFM) Fresh Food Drive kicks off Saturday, June 9 and runs through September 29. This partnership between the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, Arkansas Foodbank and the Society of St. Andrews is a great way to connect with others through food. And, it is so easy - just purchase a little extra produce while at the market, and drop it off there at the St. Andrews table.

Donating to food drives is one of the most popular forms of giving in the U.S.; however, traditional food drives are limited to non-perishable items. While easy to donate, store and distribute, these items are often highly processed, nutrient deficient food. What makes this program different is that it provides an opportunity help our neighbors overcome hunger in a healthier way.

In addition, it’s a great way to help hungry kids get through the summer, a critical time in the life of a hungry kid and their families as the meal programs they depend on during the school year are not available.

So, head to the Little Rock Farmers' Market this summer to get the freshest produce - for you and for your neighbors. It's 'community' at its finest.
