Spring Has Sprung in the Little Rock River Market

Posted on May 8, 2019

March 202019 is the official first day of spring and there’s no better way to celebrate than by kicking off this year’s public event season at the Little Rock River Market.

Our first event is Bizarre Bazaar.  Back for a second year, Bizarre Bazaar is a unique market experience featuring more than 50 vendors offering a variety of homemade, hand-crafted, unique or unusual items. Held on Saturday, March 23 from noon—4 p.m., Bizarre Bazaar vendors offer shoppers original art in the form of prints, cards, paintings, mixed media and sculpture; a variety of jewelry for every taste, handmade and unique décor, bath and body products, and specialty clothing and accessories.

Springing forward to April, Jazz in the Park gets started with its first ever all-female lineup in the event’s seven-year history.  Jazz in the Park is an annual event held on Wednesday nights in April and September from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., in the History Pavilion in Riverfront Park, just behind the Little Rock River Market Hall.  This event is free to attend and showcases central Arkansas’s local talent, focusing mostly on various styles of Jazz, but occasionally delving into R&B.  Beverages are sold at the event to help cover the costs of the bands as well as to support the scholarship initiative of Art Porter Music Education, Inc, a local non-profit named after legendary jazz musician Art Porter, a Little Rock native. Jazz in the Park is a family-friendly evening with a playground just feet from the venue.  Dog-friendly as well, this event welcomes all.  Join us along the banks of the Arkansas River to enjoy the views, feel the breeze and sway to the music.

April showers bring May flowers – and May flowers—well, they bring farm fresh fruits and veggies.  May 11 marks the beginning of the 45th Annual Little Rock Farmers’ Market. While in-season produce is the star of the show, patrons can also enjoy specialty programming on the second Saturday of each month that includes activities for kids, entertainment for adults, local non-profit groups and more.
